It has been hopping days - climb up/down mountain to walk small section of wall then hop onto the jeep, to another section and repeat the gruesome exercise again. The eastern loop of the Beijing walls are again not man-made continuous.

5/10  07:00 – 17:53. Dadi to Zhangjia. 17.6 km, 25,119 steps. TA 810m, MA 722m

Re-started at Dadi where we last camped out and went straight up the wall, reaching the topmost tower within 1.5 hours, and except for minor unclear paths, did pretty well in the morning session. The continuation Zhangjia section is under renovation, and a farmer was employed at 40 Yuan to not allow anyone up. Found path to access that section from the back towards the Zhangjia road end. AL and LZ continued up that trail. I was weary of more bush fighting to get to the wall and decided to return to the Zhangjia road and luckily by then the farmer guard has called it a day. Sneaked up to the top tower where repair was in progress, eventually reaching point blocked by an enormous rock cliff, where I met AL and LZ coming back down. The workers didn't bother and took off for the day as well. Came back down and we called it a day too.

6/10  09:22 – 17:52. Xilugoucun - Buzi Gen, then to Wohushan-Gubeikou. 15.5 km, 22988 steps. TA 1044m, MA 856m.

Started at Xilugou reservoir, up the mountain and completed this small section at the Xilugoucun road, up again the other section of the wall and reached the top tower at 856m. Again no continuation path to the next 4-eyed tower, came back down, by then decided to go to Gubeikou for the night.

Went up Wohushan (Crouching Tigers Mountain), there were high school pupils lugging their camping gears and in another tower, tents were already erected. Proceeded to the topmost tower at 600m and the sun was setting. The Harimau pounced into the middle of the den of crouching tigers, did a little Jog-gig (joget), (the legendary crouching tigers were stunned into silence and frozen stance, with only "meows" from the young ones), quickly grab a piece of history (piece of ancient tower brick) and scooted down the mountain in haste. This has turned a weary day into a good one.

Got to get ready again for the next morning challenge.

Good night all.

Rgds,

Hin

PS. Harimau Malaysia on the way up the Crouching tiger’s mountain (Wohushan).
