Hi,
Merdeka, Merdeka, Merdeka! Happy Independence Day, Malaysia.
Well, Malaysia Boleh, so too, I must.
I fly KL-Chengdu (3,054KM) today, stay overnight and the following morning fly from Chengdu to Yinchuan (904km). Stay another day in Yinchuan and then take the train to Zhongning (118km) to start the hike.
I have mapped out 6 tracks:- (click here to see the route COUNT-down2 track - link removed, refer MyMaps>Hin's COUNT Path)
1. Sanguankou (82.8km)
2. Yanchi (114km)
3. Dingbian (25.1km)
4. Yulin (329km)
5. Shenmu (35,8km)
6. Hequ (82.2km)
totalling 668.9km, but I'm keeping the last track (Hequ) as a contingency as without that stretch, the distance of 586.7km is already well over 1,000,000 steps.
In training (June1st - August 27) leading to this start, I have walked 1,210,699 steps (650.79 km) - this has given me enough confidence to take on this 2nd hike along the Ming Great Wall of China.
I'm carrying a tent and a sleeping bag as there are some sections where I would have to camp outside. There are some really challenging sections where walking is very difficult going thru desert and deep gullies.
Many friends have asked what goes thru my head in the long walk? Peace, love, kindness (which the world needs now) from each one of you that has made a difference in my life continuously fill my thoughts. And I really want to thank those who has extended their generosity in sponsoring my T-shirts, spandex sportsskin.

Should I complete this 2nd C.O.U.N.T. 1,000,000 steps, I shall be flying back "Business Class" (Beijing-KL - courtesy of MAS), otherwise it shall be "Now everyone can fly" class from Tianjin-KL.

I have read your updates on your hike this year. It sure is an eye opener for me. Now I know that the distance of your hike has got a meaning to it -- to be over 1,000,000 steps.
Well, your hike has gotten me to reflect on God's grace in my life. Every single step we take in our life has been planned and blessed by our Lord.
