Hi brothers,

Just a quick note to say that yours truly is still very much alive and kicking.

Completed 6 days of walking covering 148.9KM, managed 228,950 steps thus far. Yesterday's stretch was tough going thru the desert, up and down the sand dunes, with many portions of the wall covered by sand. Took a good 10.5 hours of trekking with just 30 mins. for lunch/rest. Blisters forming and had a good rub down and "leg wash" last nite.

Today, Sunday, resting at my good guide/friend's place in Shandan just beside the wall.

Thank goodness for my new found friend in Germany who helped mapped out the GPS tracks, and my guide/author who enthusiastically spent hours locating each GPS coordinates.

Thank my luck stars, without the GPS tracker and the mapped out track, I would have been lost countless times. A lot of the walls have disappeared, some gobbled up by farms, some become factories, and some were now levees for irrigation canals. Some beautifully intact walls, snaking up the mountains, and remnants of forts and sentry posts.

Shall be starting the Shandan (137KM) stretch tomorrow - hoping to complete in 4 days or less.

Will update again when I get the chance.

Take care.

Rgds,
Hin

Wah lao, Hin, you have really done it. How I envy you. For people like me who think of doing the same thing but never actually  get down to doing it, I suppose will have to contend with sharing your experience through your postings. So, please keep the dispatches coming.

I am sure after all the trekking, you really need a good massage. So, when you get back, we shall go to Hatyai and you can have all the massages you want. All on me. How’s that for motivation!

Omitofo and happy and safe trekking.

………………..Nge.

Did 12 hours hike (34KM) yesterday and after dinner, went for a 70 mins "wash feet" session. Excellent and didn't have the energy to take advantage of the charming lady.

Today, started early and stopped in front of my guide/frien's place (just right beside the wall) at 15:30 covering 28 KM. Tomorow is tough....going up the mountains, hopefully my left back heel holds.

Thanks for your prayers...need plenty.

Take care.

Rgds,

Hin
